Joint Pain

Book Consultation

Leap out of bed in the morning!

Joint pain can be caused by many conditions i.e. osteoarthritis, muscles issues, ligament pain or joints just not moving properly.

We look after Knees, Hips, Ankles, Toes, Shoulders, Elbows, Wrists and Fingers. If there is a joint, we can assess it. We take a thorough case history and carry out joint movement tests (orthopaedic tests) and a full muscle and ligament assessment to diagnose your problem.

We also check the rest of your spine and nervous system. For example, shoulder, elbow and wrist problems can often be connected to problems with the nerves, muscles and joints in the neck.

For hip, knee and ankle joints we will also assess your lower back and pelvis as the nerves, muscles and joints of these areas can often cause pain referral elsewhere.

FAQs

We usually see problems with the movement of knee joints, especially the knee cap. By helping the knee muscles, ligaments and joints move better, pain and stiffness often reduces.

Many people we see have osteoarthritis. The other names for this are spondylitis, rusting up or wear and tear in the spine. We find that just because your spine is a bit rusty it doesn’t mean it needs to hurt. Often the pain comes from a lack of movement, so like a rusty car, with the right moving parts and with a good oil your body can work better for you.

Although we cannot cure this, many AS patients report and improvement in their movement and joint pain when having Chiropractic care and massage.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune condition meaning the body attacks the joints via the blood in episodes. Chiropractic care cannot cure this. We do have many patients that find some relief relaxing the muscles and helping the joints move better. This is most likely due to helping poor joint movement rather than directly affecting the Rheumatoid condition.

We see many patients who have been advised of a need to have a joint replaced. We work on helping the joint move better and relax the surrounding muscles and ligaments. We cannot reverse the wear and tear but often patients report feeling more comfortable long-term or in the run up to the surgery. Post-surgery we offer exceptional rehabilitation programs.

Many patients we see take Chondroitin Sulphate, Glucosamine and Cod liver oil. This will help the material joints are made from to be healthy, but will not improve the movement of the joints.
